Guruve Serial Attacker Pleads Guilty to 10 Charges
A 35-year-old man accused of a violent crime spree in Guruve has admitted guilt to 10 charges, including rape, attempted murder and robbery.
Anymore Zvitsva entered the plea in court on Wednesday, 13 May 2026. He will return Thursday for a pre-sentence hearing.
Prosecutors told the court that Zvitsva carried out a series of attacks between October and December 2025, targeting people he viewed as vulnerable. Victims included a 14-year-old and a 62-year-old woman.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, Zvitsva used wire and shoelaces to restrain victims before assaulting them in remote areas. He allegedly armed himself with knives, spears and snare wire during the attacks.
Five of the charges relate to attempted murder. The state alleges Zvitsva stabbed victims in the neck, chest and abdomen, and strangled others with snare wire until they passed out.
Court papers also state that Zvitsva broke into homes at night, often wearing a balaclava, and assaulted families while they slept. In one incident, he allegedly struck a man with a machete and stole a lighter, cigarettes and a soft drink.
Zvitsva was arrested on 3 January 2026. Police said he later led investigators to several locations, including a site where a victim’s red T-shirt was found under a log.
The NPAZ said he still faces separate murder charges in the High Court linked to the same period in Guruve.
“These offences were carried out with extreme cruelty,” the NPAZ said. “The justice system is committed to protecting the Guruve community.”
